300 stainless steel is popular in surgery since 21 century, including 302 and 304. “GS” was named and marked on the sutures needles made by this grade in Wegosutures product line. GS needle provides more sharp cutting edge and longer taper on the sutures needle, which leads the lower penetration. Due to the little more sticky than AS and HS needle, it is very hard on machining, so this leads higher cost than AS needle. Most GS needle applied by premium coating which offer the same penetration force after 10 penetrations. The best of GS is the safety, theoretically never broken during the surgery, and it also can be made finer needle with the same resistance strength. Anyway, GS needle is the future.
